A dress, a (real) tree & meat muffins

6 Dec

This weekend I went to Chicago with Erin to find her the most perfect wedding dress. That we did. It was both everything and nothing like Say Yes to the Dress. I would love to post a photo, but we all know that’s a secret.

Unfortunately, she picked one without pockets. For snacks.

Did I mention yet that I have the biggest crush eva on Chicago? Because I really do.

Erin’s mom, Abby, and her fiance, Tall Tom, hosted us in their new diggs. We ate like queens, we went for a run on the lake shore and we bopped around the city like we grew up there. Erin was the only one who grew up there.

Erin and Abby were both APPALLED by the fact that I’ve never had a real Christmas tree. My family’s all about ornaments and to be real I don’t think a real, nature-y tree could handle all of our ornaments. I do have to say that a real tree smells so divine and that shaking machine at the lot was pretty cool.

Check it.

We decorated while listening to Christmas tunes and admiring all of the festive decs. I was so excited to be part of their family tradition and I’m excited to go home and decorate another tree with my family.

Six days before we got there, Tom started working on spaghetti sauce for our dinner on Sunday. He also made homemade pasta and stuffed meatballs. Tom made the meatballs in a muffin pan, hence us calling them meat muffins. I almost passed out they were so good.

It was one of those meals where everyone finished eating and then we all just sit at the table and look at each other for a while. It was halfway because we are too full to move and halfway because we weren’t prepared for the meal to be over. These photos don’t lie.  More here.

Aaaaand we witnessed a naked Santa run for diabetes. You could say we are VERY aware of diabetes now. Thank you Chicago. All in a weekend’s work.
